Text Overlays & Captions

3 min readEditor Features

Text overlays let you add song titles, artist names, and captions directly on the visualizer canvas. You can style, position, and time them to sync with your audio.

Adding Text Overlays

Open the 'Text Overlays' section in the Settings panel. You'll see fields for Song Title and Artist/Author text — these always-visible overlays sit on top of the visualizer canvas.

Toggle each text layer on or off using the Feature Toggles section. When enabled, the text appears on the canvas and in the exported video.

Tips

  • Keep text short and readable — aim for song titles under 40 characters so they don't wrap awkwardly.

Font and Size Controls

In the Text Overlays section you can adjust the font size, font weight (regular, bold, extra-bold), and text colour for each text layer. Changes are reflected on the canvas immediately.

The Captions panel (separate from Text Overlays) provides additional per-caption style controls including font family, letter spacing, text shadow, and background pill colour.

Drag to Position

Click and drag any text overlay on the canvas to reposition it. The position is stored as a percentage of the canvas dimensions so it scales correctly across different export resolutions.

A blue highlight ring appears around the selected element while you drag it. Release to set the position.

Tips

  • Position text in the lower third of the canvas (roughly 70–85% down) for a broadcast-style look.
  • Avoid placing text over the most active part of the visualizer — it makes both harder to read.

Timed Captions

Open the Captions panel to add timed captions that appear and disappear at specific timestamps in your audio. Click 'Add Caption', enter the text, and set start and end times in seconds.

Each caption supports the same style options as text overlays. Captions appear in the canvas preview as you scrub through the timeline.

Tips

  • Use captions for lyric videos — set each caption to match the duration of the corresponding lyric phrase.
